Babies and Remodels...

Wow! I feel like it has been FOREVER since my last post! I am sure my biggest blog fans...aka Sawyer's grandparents...are just besides themselves;)
Well anyways, this past weekend we started the looming project that has been waiting to be done since we moved in over a year ago...the bathroom!:) Ugh just saying the words "bathroom remodel" makes me cringe inside! The idea was to remove the walk in shower and replace it with a tub/shower combo for Sawyer since he will need to take baths before showers. We made the informed decision to get this project going around 8:00 am Saturday morning! Now being that we did not plan ahead left us with the challenge of remodeling with our almost 5 month old! Oh surely he will sleep...right? Um big ol negative on that! Could you sleep in one room while the room next to you was being torn apart with a hammer in the hands of your certified, over achiever, get er done style of father? I think not! Picture this...baby screaming while the hubs and I are maneuvering a shower/tub combo special from The Home Depot down a narrow hallway into a relatively smaller bathroom! At one point I was literally pinned in the tub area while Daniel was yelling for me to push one way and I was saying pull another! Needless to say it was a hot mess but we managed to get it in and I was able to then tend to the sweet boy while Daddy finished the plumbing and such in the bathroom! Luckily, Grandma Debbie came to the rescue around 8:00 pm and we were able to get it completely installed and start putting up the new drywall...and by "us" I mean Daniel...with a small amount of help from me:)
Ended up not picking up the boy until 2:00 AM SUNDAY morning!!! And yes he wakes up at 6:00 AM!! What a long weekend!! Hopefully we can finish the drywall and paint this weekend and we will have one more project in the books around here!
Bath anyone?? Don't mind the 5 gallon bucket of drywall mud that is sitting next to you while you try and relax!

Yes I am living in a hot mess right now! And...I am too ashamed to post a picture of my vanity at the moment! Before and after pictures will be up soon....hopefully anyways!!;)

Xoxo! Have a blessed day!

What I Wish I Could Ask...

One of the greatest woman I ever knew was my Grandma Hundley. She was such a beautiful person inside and out with a love for her family that could withstand anything this crazy world had to offer! I was blessed to have her a part of my life for 19 years. In those 19 years I listened to countless stories about her childhood and about how things were "back in the day", she also always had a tip or trick for how to do something. I honestly never imagined how much I would miss listening to those stories and it wasn't until I was older that I started asking tons of questions about this and that and just life in general before my time. I am realizing now since she is not a phone call away that I have SOO many more questions that I didn't get to ask. Tonight I had the pleasure of sitting and talking (more like pressing for answers😉) to Daniels Mamaw Kack for a few hours, she told me so many things that I didn't know about her and his Grandpa Gary. Things that I didn't know and maybe would had never known if I hadn't ask. To her I may be just a nosey granddaughter (in law) but to me she is a woman with fascinating stories that are beyond interesting to me! I am so happy that I was able to sit and talk with her tonight and I hope I have many more years with her to learn more! She is such a strong and beautiful woman and has so much to tell if we only listen. Thank you Mamaw Kack for telling me your stories! I not only love listening but I also love being able to remember all the special times I shared with my Grandma Hundley!

I Don't Want To Share!!!

Well friends the stress is over and all the fretting can stop! Last night marked the first night away from Sawyer so far!! I know I know everyone says oh enjoy it and take time for yourself and your marriage...well blah blah blah!😊That doesn't interest me! Ok I'm not that big of a brat...I know that Sawyer staying with his grandparents is inevitable, but I wasn't sure I was ready!! He stayed all night with his Nene and Papaw (my Mom and stepdad). As hard as it was to think about him going, once he was there and I was getting sweet pictures constantly it definitely made it much easier! Nene and Papaw were of course in heaven being able to keep him the entire night! Mommy and Daddy enjoyed the night at Olive Garden for dinner, a short trip to the mall for an adorable outfit for our sweet boy, and then a nice relaxing night at home! It was nice being able to have one on one time with my love, but we missed Sawyer Lane like crazy! And of course Olive Garden was full of cute babies that we had to look at!😉 All in all it was a wonderful night! And I may or may not have been up and showering at 5:30 am to go pick him up! Bahahaha

A few peeks of the adorable pictures we received while out!...

Oh and the cute outfit we bought😉 #oldnavyspecial

We are so beyond blessed with wonderful family! Special thanks to my Momma and Stepdad for keeping our pride and joy! Thank you for taking such wonderful care of him while we were out so we don't have to worry!

And the verdict is...

Per my previous blog about my homemade green bean baby food, here is the verdict! He LOVES his green beans!! This Mommy is HAPPY!!!

As she sits upon the hill

As she sits upon the hill
Her beauty shinning bright
Protecting us with all her will
To someday see the light

Her walls of brick stand secure
The stained glass glowing all around
A place that must be so pure
Your sarrows are all drowned

My love for her is deep within
 Myself  no need to search
She loves no matter where I've been
My one and only beloved church

I wrote this poem in honor of my church St. John's Lutheran Church Sauers.

Have a blessed day!

Green Beans Anyone?

Making your own baby food can be a fun and cost effective way for you to continue to provide the nutrients for your baby once he or she is ready to eat solids.

While I was pregnant last summer and canning my own green beans that were fresh out of my Grandma's garden, I decided that making my sons food sounded like something I would be interested in! Since then I have spent time researching and getting ideas on how to do so! Now yesterday was my first shot at making green beans, I also mixed up some bananas! Here is how it went down!😉

Supplies Needed:
1. Blender to purée foods
2. Steamer
3. Ice cube trays

First I started out by steaming my green beans!
*The baby bullet steamer made it easy by providing a helpful guide for steaming times and water amounts!

After steaming my green beans for 7 minutes, I put them into the blender and puréed to desired consistency.

Then just pure the green beans into trays for freezing!
*This tray was a baby bullet tray however, I also used ice cube trays shown below for the bananas!

Once good and frozen (about 3-4 hours) I just popped the cubes out and put into freezer bags labeled with the date and contents! And it's a done deal! Quick and easy and I know exactly where it was made and what is in it! If you have contemplated making your baby's food as well, I encourage you to do so! I was back and forth worried about time and resources but it was so easy and honestly enjoyable for me!

My sweet Sawyer just couldn't hang while Mommy was mixing everything up!

Have a wonderfully BLESSED day!!!

Shots, shots, shots!

My little guy had his 4 month check up today! It was definitely a bittersweet visit! He is doing wonderful and growing perfect but we had to get shots! Although this was not the first time for shots, it was definitely the first time with such an alert and aware baby! Ugh the hardest one to date for sure!!! There is nothing worse than looking at this little face...
And knowing he doesn't even know what's coming😥!!!

I held both of his little hands as the lovely nurses counted to three and stuck the needles in his legs! The saying "I feel you're pain" takes a whole new meaning when it's your baby laying there squalling!  No one can prepare your mind and body for the feelings you experience once you have a child! It really is unexplainable how the joy, sadness, pain, and fullness can feel with these little blessings!

And....it doesn't stop there, now we are home and my little stink butt doesn't feel well and is fussy! Oh all that emotion still continues! I guess extra snuggles and lullabies it is for the night!...that's fine by this Mommy! Sorry laundry, you will just have to wait;)

My current duty is nothing but this sweet boy!
