Yes, I Still Breastfeed My 13 Month Old.

Here is a little secret of mine....

Pre title of Momma I had many opinions and views regarding numerous subjects when it came to raising children, one of those regarding breastfeeding. It was my opinion that children should not be breastfed past the age of one year. Well, as many of you know a year and come and past for my little Sawyer and he is now nearing 13 months. As hard as it is for me to admit this (being that it doesn't happen often) my views have changed...and I mean changed big time! At this point my mind cannot allow itself to wrap around the idea of not nursing my sweet boy to sleep or first thing when he wakes up. We simply just aren't ready to give it up. This special bond that we have shared this past year has been more than I could ever imagine! The early mornings when the sun hasn't even popped over the trees across the field and all we hear is the fridge dropping ice into the freezer or the dog rolling around in the bedroom thinking about wanting to go out and the fan still on high from the night just down the hall in the bedroom. These are the moments I sit and occasionally think oh wouldn't it be nice to be sleeping in but then I look down and see his sweet little face eating what only I can provide, so comforted and relaxed in my arms as if he doesn't have a care in the world. His little eyes opening and closing softly as he tries to wake himself up completely and look at me. All of these things are better than any fairy tale I've ever seen, dreamed, or heard of. This is life, our life, and I am not prepared to change that based on my past ideas of how nursing should be done nor anyone else's. I know our day will come when we have to give our time up for other things but for now I am savoring each moment to the fullest and I am pretending that our time will never end.

I personally owe an apology to anyone I once shared my opisite opinions with. I knew when I decided to nurse my Sawyer that we would have a special bond that many other Moms had always told me about but I had NO idea exactly how it would feel and how deeply saddened I would be when it came time to end. The best way I can describe this is it's like a roller coaster that I am not ready to get off of. I was soo scared at first that he wouldn't latch or that I would be so sore that I couldn't go on or continue but once we took off I was at ease and loving it! I was blessed by God to have this opportunity that not everyone gets and I planned to appreciate every second! We had ups and downs, supplementing at 8 months because my supply was down which was crushing to say the least but then we figured that out, it wasn't so bad...we just added a bottle into the mix...those sleepless nights when he was newborn and it seemed as if he had no other purpose on this earth but to eat! Now I can see the stopping point up ahead and I know our ride is almost over....I will cherish this bond for the remainder of life and always remember our late nights and early mornings together!

I will not change every opinon nor do I want to, but please be curtious of all breastfeeding mommas, it is not always easy being a 24 hour buffet and it's definitely not easy saying goodbye to the one thing that has stayed consisant since the birth of our sweet babies...breastfeeding! As our babies grow and change so do their needs from clothing sizes to sleeping patterns but one thing stays consistent and that is, the need to eat! Each Momma is different with different views and ways of parenting...it is not anyone else's position to tell another Mom when to stop breastfeeding whether that 2,8,12, or 24 months! As for Sawyer and I...we will stop when the time is right...and it won't be right now!:)

Here are some special pictures of my little and I that I will always cherish!

The moment my life changed forever...
I will never forget that little stinker ate for almost an hour right after birth! It took us two hours to get ready for visitors:)!

A random day feeding in my office at work...back when he went to work with me!

Cherish your moments Mommies! It won't last forever!

5 Tips For Family Picture Day With A Baby

Family picture day can be a very exciting yet stressful day for everyone involved! Today being that day for me, the tips and ideas on how to eliminate some of the stress is still fresh on my mind! Here are my tips...

1. Pick out clothing that is stylish yet comfortable! This goes for EVERYONE! Nothing is more annoying than having the photographer ready to snap that perfect shot and here you are messing with your wardrobe trying to get "things" or "the girls" in their place! Pick clothing that fits and falls well on your body! Personally my clothing was great however, my little's cowboy boots kept wanting to find themselves anywhere but on his feet!! Not ideal when you are trying to get that adorable picture of him walking with Daddy and he is losing boots left and right!!

2. Pick a time, anytime, just NOT nap time! Choose a time for photos when your baby is he/she's happiest! No need to fight your sleepy little during a photo shoot! ...Sure we had all this planned out, assuming my little would get his nap out...but that didn't happen! There he was 15 minutes in and still sleepy and not having it!

3. If possible, check the weather! Choose a day that is going to be warm enough to be comfortable for outside pictures! This isn't always possible when booking busy photogs BUT if it is an option warmer is better!...We were a tad on the chilly side today! A mere 55 isn't ideal when outside trying to get family photos!

4. Plan Ahead! Get ideas on different posses, backgrounds, and types of picture you are wanting! Having an objective on what type of photos you are wanting will help speed up the process and help your photographer understand what kinds of things you are looking to see! By this I mean are these pictures just a yearly shoot for the books, the wall, or possibly a Christmas card?...I always go with at least a few ideas on posses I am looking to create with my little fam!

5. Don't go hungry! Although you don't want to go overfed and feeling at large for a family picture, in the same token, don't be starving and only thinking about food! This will cause you to rush perfection! No one wants to be attemping to be beautiful with a growling belly! This includes baby except baby is better overfed than hungry during pictures!...my little had a full tummy at the start! Luckily my Momma had an amazing lunch ready upon arrival....I may or may not have been overfed for pictures! Lol

Toilet Troubles

Someone please tell me why when my son leaves the living room there's a pretty good chance he is headed to the toilet...not to the playroom!😳 Today was no surprise...found him elbow deep in the toilet bowl dipping q-tips that he had picked out of the trash can!😣😨😷 GAG ME! New rule at the Bohall's...KEEP THE BATHROOM DOORS CLOSED AT ALL TIMES! I'm so disgusted!

This was the post I made yesterday to my fellow Facebook friends! Our days are typically always eventful...some well...more than others! Yesterday was no exception, we had our 50000000th run in with ol toilet!  My Sawyer has a slight obsession with what I consider one of the nastiest objects in our house. Why? Well according to many of my fellow facebookers they claim that their children also have/had this same obsession! Therefore, I suppose we will leave it at the fact that is he just a curious little boy whose curiosity leads him to the bathroom on a frequent basis! We may never know just exactly why, perhaps it's the sound it makes when it's flushing or the fact that it is like a big splash bowl of fun! Either way...GROSS!!

And here below you see is yet another run in with the bathroom that we had just a few weeks back where I actually snapped a picture! This time he was mutalating a toilet paper roll!

The BIG 1!!!

My little Sawyer is now 1 year old! Boy did time fly, I blinked and a year has past. Now that the party is over, Sawyer spends his days attempting to play with all of his wonderful toys and Mommy gets to play dress up with all his new clothes!! His birthday party went wonderful and he had over 100 people there to celebrate with us on his birthday! Yes...yes I know, some people think that it is silly to give a baby that will never remember their birthday a huge bash but you know what...I don't really care:) I am his Momma and parties are what I love! You only have one 1st birthday and it is my job as his Momma to make it as special as I can! To each their own I suppose!:)

With that being said...here are some captured pictures from Sawyer's dinosaur birthday bash!
